Anytime, anywhere: tasty pita chips

I make these whenever we need a healthy tasty crunchy snack for the cupboard, or when I need nibbles for a party, or when I'm asked to take a plate somewhere. They are very simple to make, very versatile, and everyone loves them. I took them to a gathering on the weekend and people just raved about them. I had to write out the recipe quite a few times!

Not that it's a tricky recipe. You could probably do it with your eyes shut.

Preheat the oven to fairly hot. About 200 degrees celsius should do it. Get a packet of flat round Lebanese or pita bread, either white or wholemeal. Split each bread into two thin pieces and slice the big bread circles into about eight wedges, like a pizza.
Meanwhile, make a simple paste from the herbs and spices you've got in the cupboard, mixed with some olive oil.
I usually use a mixture of olive and canola oil, or perhaps mustard oil, and for the spices I use garam masala, a little chicken stock powder, salt and chili powder.
Use a clean paintbrush to paint the chips with a bit of paste. Pop the chips on a baking tray, and into the oven for about 5 minutes. They will burn REALLY FAST so be prepared to get face burn opening the hot oven every two seconds to check on them.

The good thing about these pita chips are that they are so easy to make, economical, and they make a lot of chips, as you can see. Use any combination of herbs and spices you like.
