Karen's chocolate kugelhopf cake

Here's Karen's chocolate kugelhopf cake. It was baked as The Backup Cake for the piano cake, and also because we were expecting about 20 people so we needed two cakes. It was done in a heart-shaped kugelhopf tin, and it's full of chocolate chips inside. Kugelhopf is traditionally a sweet bready thing from Alsace, but this is more cakey and less yeastified. It's pretty tall, and it comes out very dark, with a hard crunchy crust and a sweet golden
interior. She made a ganache for it from Lindt 70% mixed with cream, which we poured over the top. It ended up setting quite solid. Then she filled the centre with Maltesers and sprinkled some caramel sprinkles over the top. Success!
