Marigold and Yuen's have burned down

Courier-Mail story

Oh no, I can’t believe it. Marigold Seafood Restaurant (the best yum cha on the southside) and Yuen’s (best Asian supermarket on the southside) have been burned to the ground in Thursday’s terrible fire at the Sunnybank shopping centre.
Seeing the owners sobbing on the Channel Nine news, and hearing of the millions of dollars’ worth of damage that has been done, I had a lump in my throat. I can’t imagine running a supermarket or a restaurant is a particularly easy way to make money: incredibly long hours, huge overhead costs, staffing problems, the fickleness of the buying public... but I know that Marigold and Yuen’s were always packed on the weekends and that they were real examples of the local community supporting itself, giving and getting back in a cycle of replenishment.
It will take months, if not years, for these businesses to rebuild. In the meantime, their losses are also Brisbane’s.
