Stanthorpe: Heavenly Chocolate
It was a gorgeous little spot: tucked away down the road from Stanthorpe, just past Ballandean, was a little place called Heavenly Chocolate. They have a good selection of handmade chocs and some commercially-made interesting-looking ones too, but the real temptation was the European hot chocolate in over twenty flavours! The shop has B&B accommodation attached, and is shrouded in trees where native birds stuff themselves stupid on the birdfeeders hung throughout. Old planter chairs create a cosy spot on the front step, or you can take your lovely little tray of hot chocolate
(complete with complementary chocolates) down to the garden: surrounded by plants, shaded from the sun, and next to the enormous chook run where you can watch them picking through the grass and fluffing themselves up.I had the chocolate with chili, and it was perfect, with a good kick of heat (as it should be!) The ideal
spot to kill half an hour and regenerate.
