Yum cha at Landmark, Sunnybank

Definitely now the best yum cha in town. King of Kings is past its prime; so is Golden Palace. And it looks like everyone else in town knows it! We had a booking for 11.30, and when we arrived, the queue for walk-ins was out the door, round the corner in the shopping centre. This is a huge, loud, asylum of tasty bites. Good yum cha. Very good. Good options, lots of variety, lots of yumminess.

We were at Landmark this Saturday, and were very pleased that we booked! I still like Golden Palace too though.

Have you been to Shangri La? I'm yet to try it...

No I haven't tried Shangri-La yet- but it's on the list! Let me know if you go.

Shangri-la has less variety but it has its own supporters. I personally prefer Shangri-la to Landmark as I find Landmark's use of salt is on the heavy side.
But my favourite place to have yum-cha is Manor at Eight Miles Plain.
I agree King of Kings is way past its prime.

Just letting you know I've now tried both Shangri-La and The Manor.

Shangri-La was ok, but it was a last minute decision to go there and we ended up getting there quite late in the day. Obviously it's better to go earlier, so I think I'd need to try again at some stage to make up my mind about it.

The Manor was excellent, but if you like yum cha for the trolleys, then it's not the place for you since you order by marking what you want on a slip. Because of that, everything was really fresh. The har gao (sp?) were especially good - really prawn-y!

That said, I still like Golden Palace! The last few times I've been there the food has been fresh and tasty and the service good. I have a friend who likes China House but I'm yet to go there...

(Sorry for very long comment!) :D

Great, thanks for the info.
So have we come to a consensus?

The top yum cha place in town is... Manor??

Interesting: I hadn't really ever heard about it before, but now I'm just going to have to go there and add my two cents.
Glad Golden Palace wasn't too feral for you when you were there. Obviously they have their good and bad days!!

I really haven't had a bad experience at GP recently, but agree that they do have good and bad days.

A friend of mine thinks that part of going to yum cha is choosing things from trolleys - so for people like her, The Manor isn't a good yum cha place. But yeah, the food was very good!

There's also a place at Moorooka where you order your yum cha dishes from the menu. I went there soon after it opened, and it was a bit slow, but the food was pretty good. I think it warrants another try...

Don't know if you've seen this yum cha review on this new-ish blog? Yum cha in the city just sounds wrong to me. :-/

I've returned to Shangri-La a few times - it's definitely better earlier in the day! And they have xiao long bao - nowhere near as good as in China, but I still like them for the novelty factor. :)
