Nigella's old-fashioned chocolate cake. Gateau au chocolat a l'ancienne, facon Nigella. This was grrreat. I made mine in a 23.5 cm tin, all in one instead of dividing it into two 20cm tins. The result was still moist and tender inside, not overdone as my layer cakes tend to be. And I didn't slice the cake into two to layer it with icing, either. It just received an extreme dosage layer of icing on the top (which compressed the whole thing a little bit) but no one complained!
Gonna do this one again on Saturday for Ricky's birthday.
