Flavour combination challenge

Here's where we share some flavour combinations that we are in love with. A few, like coffee and chocolate, peanut butter and jam, cheese and Vegemite and chocolate and orange are well-known.
However, other flavour combinations are out there. Combinations that may be strange, unusual, non-intuitive... or just plain weird.

Here's some of my personal favourites, some standard and some not:

  • Pineapple and mint

  • Watermelon and rosewater

  • Chocolate and chili

  • Rosemary and lemon

  • Chicken and bananas

  • Popcorn and furikake

  • Pork and blackberry

  • Chili and lime

I know my mum used to have a thing for mushrooms and dark soy sauce.

A few years ago, Gourmet Traveller published some other, less well-known, but just as mind-blowing fruity flavour combinations:
  • Grapes and tarragon

  • Stonefruits and lavender

  • Orange and bay leaf

  • Figs and thyme

  • Cherries and rosemary

Send in the other flavour combinations that rock your world...
