MOS Burger at Sunnybank

MOS Burger has arrived! Menu photos from Urbanspoon are here. The best bit about MOS Burger was a) the tastiness of the beef yakiniku b) the smallness and neatness and cleanness of everything c) the green tea (unsweetened! IN A GLASS!) and d) the complete lack of bogans anywhere. Megalove. Am going back soon.

Lovely autumn lunch

My friend Emma made this lovely lunch for us. Out on the back deck, surrounded by tall trees, native birds and grumpy gardening husbands. Wonderful. Rocket leaves dressed with shaved parmesan and balsamic vinegar, warm savoury tart with chorizo, pumpkin and feta, and for dessert, little date bites with chocolate. All very beautiful.

Tao kae noi

My new faaaaavourite snack!

Not sure how legit this snack really is in Japan, given that it has Western writing all over the packet, but I'm sure the essence is there.

Big shards of crispily flavoured seaweed, coated in various seasonings such as seafood, tom yum, hot n' spicy, or original. AND the packet is resealable.

You can get these at Asian supermarkets for about $2.50 a packet. Just as well they're not in normal supermarkets yet, or I'd live on nothing else.

Japanese food hall

Onsen lunch

Can't remember the name of this onsen in northern Japan, but it was my first ever hot springs experience. As part of the visit an incredible lunch was included, served in our own private room with mountain views. Truly amazing. Beef cooked on our own stone hotplate with potato and corn, tempura vegetables, broth with enoki mushrooms and soup vegetables, sashimi, cooked eel, edamame, salad, and for dessert, a poached sweet tomato. Eleven out of ten!
